Dr Wendy Russell is an independent researcher on children’s play and playwork and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Gloucestershire, where she had previously worked for 18 years, contributing to the development and delivery of undergraduate and  postgraduate  programmes on children’s play. Her connection with Charlotte and Playful Places came through her colleague and collaborator Dr Stuart Lester. As well as lots of informal chats and mutual support, Wendy has formally worked with Charlotte on two research studies into the Welsh Government’s Play Sufficiency Duty (with Mike Barclay and Ben Tawil) and on the production of Stuff and Nonsense (with Bridget Handscomb and John Fitzpatrick). Her publications (since 2014) can be found here. Wendy is a co-founder of the biennial international Philosophy at Play conferences and is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Play.
